Being at this beautiful beach for a week now, I have looked at the scope and this morning was the morning. I couldn’t stop once I started walking west. I had to go to the end. I was on the beach for sunrise and just kept walking. According to my fitbit, the walk in this direction was 4 km (so 8 km return) and 2 km the other way. What an incredible beach!
There appeared to be more destruction this way that had not yet been replaced/repaired, but there were some incredible new places as well. Almost to the end of this beach there was a dock. I walked out on it and was astounded by the number of tiny fish swimming in the water below. The dock felt very narrow and I walked carefully in the middle.
Past the pier, there was little park called The Carleton Heritage Beach Park with a few park benches. There was also a food truck. I met a local woman walking and she said the food truck is open somedays, but not everyday. You must be able to access this area from the road, because it is a long walk on the beach from the majority of the villas and resorts!
When I got back we had breakfast (French toast, fruit and bacon) and Little Sara joined us. Ian and his friends had taken the boat out to snorkel and they found an area with tons of colourful fish. They also went to Marsh Harbour for groceries and lunch.
We spent the day on the beach and at the pool as this was our last day here in Treasure. We heard a bulldozer working so we took a walk down the beach and discovered it bulldozing away the dunes in front of the resort and some villas! So much for protecting the dunes.
Late in the afternoon, we packed up all the groceries we knew we wouldn’t be using and gave them to the Lunenburg crew.
We all met to go to the resort for dinner. We walked down the beach on the way, in the dark. It was so peaceful. We sat outside at the Bahamas Beach Club Resort. It was Italian Night and the menu had some beautiful choices. John and I both decided on the Lasagna, which could have fed 3 people! It was topped with grilled zucchini, which was a treat as well. The meal was 4 courses starting with Antipasto, then Caesar salad and ending with Tiramisu. The other choices around the table were Lobster Penne in a Rose sauce, Chicken Parm, Shrimp Alfredo, and Ravioli. Sara took home half of my Lasagna as well as some of her Penne…we wanted to make sure she was still fed after we left!
We walked back on the road and saw several birds that we hadn’t seen during the day. There was one outside the restaurant as we ate as well. Ian thought they must be some kind of night heron.
Back at the Villas we said our goodbyes. It was amazing how 10 people who didn’t know each other joined together to make such an enjoyable week. We exchanged hugs and handshakes, and Bill hugged Little Sara, knocking her penne to the ground! Oh well…she had enough lasagna to get her through!
